About

It's Been 84 Years or Já Faz 84 Anos in Portuguese or Han Pasado 84 Años in Spanish refers to a memorable quote from the 1997 Titanic movie character Rose. The main character is seen at the beginning of the film as an elderly woman retelling the events of the night of the shipwreck, saying "It's been 84 years." The quote was popularized in multiple languages online as a reaction image, GIF and image macro used to express impatience with the pace of things.

Origin

Within the movie, there was a scene in which an older version of the character Rose Bukater recollects her memories about first seeing the ship, saying, "It’s been 84 years, and I can still smell the fresh paint." A video of the quote was uploaded on YouTube[1] on March 4th, 2014, by user Limuelarevalo4759. The post (shown below) garnered 214,000 views and 1,600 likes in nine years.
