It’s Always 2 Dumb Bitches Telling Each Other "Exactlyyyyy," also known as It Be 2 Dumbass Girls Telling Each Other "Exactlyyyy," refers to a catchphrase used to caption an image macro of two people dubbed "two dumb bitches" who align with the cliché of saying an extended "exactly" when in conversation with each other to attest that they both agree. The catchphrase emphasizes that the conversation tick is akin to stupidity. However, the phrase is seemingly used by women who identify with the cliché. The meme started on Twitter / X and gained notable traction in January 2024.
Origin
On March 20th, 2023, X[1] user @pinkfr1day tweeted, "it b 2 dumbass girls (i’m one of them) telling each other 'exactly,'" gaining over 14,000 likes in 10 months (shown below). The tweet is currently the first known iteration of the phrase.
Spread
On May 25th, 2024, X[2] user @exist2post posted a cropped screenshot of an unknown tweet reading, "it b 2 dumbass girls telling each other 'exactlyyyy.'" Over eight months, the post received roughly 131,000 likes (shown below).
@exist2post's screenshot gained viral reposts on Instagram[3] in late May 2023. Also, on May 31st, 2023, Instagram[4] user @foreverwilin copied the phrase for their own tweet screenshot, receiving over 160,100 likes in eight months.
On June 1st, 2023, X[5] user @mikey_almeida tweeted a screenshot of Elon Musk replying to J.K. Rowling with "Exactly," captioning it, "it’s always 2 dumb bitches telling each other 'exactlyyyyy.'" The tweet received roughly 6,100 likes in seven months, spawning the most commonly used version of the phrase (shown below).
Continuing into 2023, usage of every variation trended online, spreading to websites like TikTok. [6][7]
Viral usage predominantly spread on X, evident in a tweet shared by X[8] user @amandayoungdyke on October 12th, 2023, which captioned the characters from the movie Bottoms, gaining over 20,000 likes in three months (shown below, left).
On November 27th, 2023, X[9] user @SaeedDiCaprio quoted a video of Elon Musk meeting with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using a screenshot of @foreverwilin's Instagram[4] post, gaining roughly 108,000 likes in two months (shown below, right).
In early 2024, usage of the phrases continued to go viral, evident in a post shared by X[10] user @CHRYS4LIS_ on January 20th, 2024, that captioned two stuffed dolls, gaining over 142,000 likes in six days (shown below).
