About

"It Do Be Like That, Mr. Stancil" is a catchphrase in AAVE that was adopted on Twitter / X to mock journalist and left-wing political commentator Will Stancil. The line is spoken by a fictional Black supporter of Stancil in an AI-generated cartoon parodying his online persona and focus on progressive social justice issues.

The catchphrase first appeared in the first episode of the X web series The Will Stancil Show!, which was shared by former Newgrounds animator Emily Youcis in early October 2025. The line is spoken by a Black male character named Jamal, who's seen with Stancil at a bar. Stancil's character says, "Ah, nothing like getting some brewskis with a good friend after a long day fighting fascists on X.com." Jamal responds, "It do be like that, Mr. Stancil." Notably, the cartoon was an AI-generated video that was created with OpenAI's Sora. In the following weeks, X users routinely quote-tweeted and replied to Stancil's posts with the phrase as the meme spread online.
