About
IShowSpeed's "Skip, Skip," continued, "When Does This Game Get Fucking Good?" refers to an exploitable video template showing Twitch streamer IShowSpeed clicking thorough images until he suddenly stops, most often once he comes across the subjectively right answer to the video's POV scenario. The original video is from a 2022 Twitch stream in which Speed is playing Doki Doki Literature Club. A greenscreen CapCut template of the original video trended on TikTok in early 2023 which was similar to the precursor IShowSpeed format, the "One kiss is all it takes" template.
Origin
On February 3rd, 2022, a six-second clip from IShowSpeed's then-recent stream was uploaded to YouTube[1] by the channel Syrexa in which Speed was playing Doki Doki Literature Club and becoming impatient with the game until he was presented with a jumpscare to which he responded with shock. Over the course of one year, the video received roughly 24,300 views and 1,000 likes (shown below).
Skip, skip. Bro, when does this game get fucking good? [Shocked face]
Spread
On May 8th, 2022, the audio from IShowSpeed's clip was used in a video uploaded by TikTok[2] user @murder.drones.edits that was an edit made for the video game Murder Drones and included the saxophone part from George Michael's "Careless Whisper." Over the course of 10 months, the video gained roughly 34,400 plays and over 580 likes (shown below, left). Using the TikTok sound of the aforementioned video, TikTok[3] user @royalbarbiehigh posted a video that skipped through multiple Barbie DVDs. The video received roughly 160,900 likes in seven months (shown below, right).
CapCut Template
Although one video meme posted to YouTube[4] in September 2022 used a greenscreen of IShowSpeed's "Skip, Skip" clip, the video didn't receive viral attention, earning under 700 views in six months. The template didn't predominantly start until February 2023 on TikTok when a CapCut[8] template surfaced that used the "Skip, Skip" greenscreen. On February 5th, 2023, TikTok[5] user @hanniieun posted the first-known video that used the template, writing in text overlay, "pov: you searched for a cute bias." Over the course of one month, the video received roughly 5,000 plays and over 930 likes (shown below).
In late February 2023, the template earned more viral iterations. This predominantly started with a video uploaded on February 28th, 2023 by TikTok[6] user @deeeeegaaaan who wrote in text overlay, "Toddlers deciding what to eat," and timed Speed's shocked reaction to coincide with LEGOs. Over the course of 13 days, the video received roughly 340,800 plays and 73,400 likes (shown below, left). On the next day, March 1st, TikTok[7] user @1stloserforlife posted a video with a similar joke, ending instead with a photo of coins. Over the course of 12 days, the video received roughly 2.7 million plays and 612,100 likes (shown below, right).
The trend continued into March 2023, resulting in mass usage of the CapCut[8] template that started it.
