About

IShowSpeed "Green Apples" refers to YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed's code word "green apple" or "green apples" to covertly tell to his cameraperson to end his IRL streams. IShowSpeed started saying "green apples" sometime in early to mid-2024. At first, the streamer was sneaky about it but as time went on, he was more blatant in saying it, becoming an inside joke within his fandom.

Origin

IShowSpeed started using code words to end his IRL streams in mid-2024. Other examples include "dark milk" and "Planet of the Apes."[1][2] The code words and phrases were seemingly decided on before filming.

On May 14th, 2024, IShowSpeed went Live on YouTube[3] in a stream called "irl nightlife in South Korea 🇰🇷" in which at the video's end, he looked at the cameraperson and repeated, "Green apples" (shown below). It is currently his first known usage of the code word.

Spread

In subsequent livestreams, IShowSpeed continued to use "green apples" over other code words. For instance, on June 4th, 2024, he used "green apples" to end his YouTube[4] stream with MrBeast and KSI (shown below, left).

On June 22nd, he used "green apple" to end his YouTube[5] stream called, "Portugal 🇵🇹 vs Turkey 🇹🇷 EUROS irl" (shown below, right).

On June 25th, 2024, TikToker[6] @njoyit2 posted a compilation of IShowSpeed saying "green apples," receiving over 3 million plays and 375,200 likes in a week (shown below, left).

On June 28th, TikToker[7] @zidion1 posted a similar compilation, gaining over 211.900 plays and 4,400 likes in four days (shown below, right).
