Iron Man Armor PS5 refers to a series of memes that imagine the PlayStation 5 and other video game consoles gaining conscience and coming to their owner's aid in various situations akin to the Iron Man suit in Marvel films. The format gained virality on TikTok in late December 2024 and early January 2025, often using clips from various depictions of Iron Man in movies, TV shows and other animations alongside text captions to set up the joke.
Origin
On December 22nd, 2024, TikTok[1] user posted a video of a God of War III cutscene in which protagonist Kratos lets the character Pandora die by letting go of her hand to attack Zeus, captioning it with a joke about making a choice between one's girlfriend and a PlayStation 5 gaming console in an extreme situation. The video, set to the song "Halo" by Beyonce, received over 1.1 million views and 248,000 likes in three weeks (shown below).
Spread
On December 24th, 2024, TikTok[2] user @dylan.likes.dc posted a similar meme, based on a cutscene from the Batman: Arkham Origins video game. The post received over 653,000 likes and 154,000 likes in two weeks.
On December 26th, 2024, TikToker[3] @silly_lil_goofball posted a reversed version of the meme imagining a PlayStation 5 console saving its owner after he's been thrown off a balcony, based on a clip of Marvel character Tony Stark getting saved by his Iron Man armor after getting thrown out of a window. The post (shown below) gained over 1.3 million views and 281,000 likes in two weeks.
Following the post, multiple memes based on clips from Iron Man films, as well as films and series featuring the character, which imagined PlayStation 5 and other consoles as Iron Man's armor, were shared on TikTok. For example, on January 4th, 2025, TikTok[4] user @solacethetoon posted a caption meme that received over 240,000 likes in three days (shown below).
On January 5th, 2025, X[5] user @MS0Gold made a thread of TikTok videos based on the meme, with the opening post gaining over 9.1 million views, 9,900 reposts and 156,000 likes in two days.
