About

In My Solitude refers to the song "Solitude" by Billie Holiday on TikTok. Throughout the 2020s, the song became popular on TikTok in aesthetic videos that give off a calming vibe, including videos of desirable landscapes, objects and views. In October 2022, a TikToker sang the lyrics to describe the aesthetic appeal of a pair of boots in a video known as "Hold On, 'Cause They Got The Goddamn 'In My Solitude,'" comparing the boots to the song, sparking a trend where people use the audio in aesthetic videos and the lyrics as a slang term to describe things, often cars or boots, in a similar way, often ironically. The trend is a play on shoe roast videos made by creator Slv_Soundss.

Origin

Throughout the 2020s, especially in 2022, TikTokers[1] began using the song "Solitude" by Billie Holiday in videos that give off a specific, desirable aesthetic and calming vibe. Often, the videos show luxurious locations, landscapes, delicious food, plants and otherwise calming and aesthetically pleasing scenes. Sometimes, the song is used in videos about being alone (examples shown below).

Spread
