About
I'm Your Uber Driver. Get In! refers to a viral video on TikTok of a man trying to convince another person that he's an Uber rideshare driver in which he says the line, "I'm your Uber driver. Get in!" The man in the original video is TikToker Aldo Swag. The clip became a viral skit and lip-dub meme in early 2024, typically being used with the sound from the original video in parody and fan animations recreating the scene in which the driver is harassing the man to get in the car.
Origin
On December 21st, 2023, TikTok[1] user @swa9in uploaded a video in which he pretended to be a fake Uber driver harassing a man passing by his car. He looks at the man and says the line, "I'm your Uber driver. Get In!" The man recording says he didn't ask for an Uber and swa9in replies with, "You got one now." The skit (shown below) amassed more than 19 million plays and 3 million likes in a month.
Spread
Days after @swa9in's video went viral on TikTok, people started to use the audio to recreate the scene, adding funny captions to their content and recreating it via lip dubs. For example, on December 26th, 2023, TikTok[2] user @sacred_sun_music used the original video (shown below, left) paired with the caption "Me when I pull up and see Jacob Elordi with the Saltburn eyebrow piercing," which received roughly 3.8 million plays and 403,000 likes in two weeks.
On January 3rd, 2024, TikTok[3] user @sherdelabear96 posted a video using @swa9in's audio alongside the caption "When you buy your toddler the most expensive toy and they don't give a shi* about it." The post (shown below, right) garnered over 8.8 million plays and 1.5 million likes in a week.
Examples of the trend also appeared on platforms such as YouTube over the following days. For example, YouTuber El Michelle posted one such example using the original video's audio on January 8th, 2024, receiving over 77,000 views in roughly 24 hours (seen below, left). On January 4th, YouTuber Creebus posted one using footage from Minecraft to recreate the original, receiving over 11,000 views in five days (seen below, right).
