I'm Not Falling For That Shit! is an exploitable meme format based on an image of Papyrus from Undertale standing in front of a fiery background telling Sans "I'm not falling for that shit!" The image and catchphrase are from the 2019 Undertale :creepypasta fan game Papyrus Goes Too Far and became increasingly popular throughout the 2020s in online Undertale communities.

Origin

On May 24th, 2019, GameJolt^[1] user kwysocki243 posted an Undertale fan game titled Papyrus Goes Too Far. In the game, Sans fights against Papyrus in a fiery location. Sans says, "I'll give you all the spaghetti you want please don't kill me," and Papyrus responds, "I'm not falling for that shit!" (shown below).

In 2023, GameJolt^[2] user AleAtorio3Dw released a fan game based on the original creepypasta game, garnering over 71,000 views in a year and helping spread the original game. On September 17th, 2023, they posted a song from the game to SoundCloud^[6] titled "I'M NOT FALLING FOR THAT SHIT!" that uses a low-res screenshot of the original game, which would later become the subject of memes (shown below).

The scene became the subject of memes over the following years, becoming particularly popular throughout the 2020s.

On November 5th, 2023, DeviantArt^[3] user maniacsrevenge posted a piece of fan art based on the scene that gained over 50 favorites in six months (shown below, left). On March 13th, 2024, X^[4] user @damie_an posted a screenshot of the moment from the game that gained over 1,100 likes in two months (shown below, right).

On May 15th, X^[5] user @tellmenae posted a thread titled "thread of every 'i'm not falling for that shit!' image i could find 🧵," garnering over 10,000 likes in a day and consisting of many examples of memes made out of the image (examples shown below).
