I'm Literally the Guy in the Pic, also known as Why Can't I Find a Guy Like This?, is a series of photoshopped tweets based off a Twitter exchange between users @reganslatic and @McCartyConnor, in which the latter claims to be a person seen in a photograph posted with the message "Why can't I find a guy like this ugh."
Origin
On December 21st, 2014, Twitter user @reganslatic tweeted "Why can't I find a guy like this ugh" followed by a photo of a young man with hearts photoshopped by his head. On September 6th, 2016, Twitter user @McCartyConnor[3] replied to the tweet with "hey," @reganslatic replied with "no" and @McCartyConnor responded, "I'm literally the guy in the pic" (shown below).
Spread
On July 16th, 2017, a screenshot of the exchange was submitted to FunnyJunk[4] by user rustledjimmie, where it garnered more than 2,200 points and 100 comments over the next year.
On July 18th, another screenshot reached the front page of /r/CringeAnarchy,[2] gathering upwards of 3,300 points and 100 comments prior to being archived. On August 10th, a screenshot of the tweet was submitted to /r/2meirl4meirl.[5]
On February 12th, 2018, Twitter user @blackmidgetguy replied to a tweet asking "Why can't I have a guy like this for Valentine's" with the message "I'm literally the guy in the pic" (shown below). Within two months, the tweet gained over 5,000 likes and 1,400 retweets.
On February 23rd, Redditor Nick_1007 posted a photoshopped version of the original exchange featuring a picture of Elon Musk to /r/DeepFriedMemes[1] (shown below, left). On February 27th, Redditor mrbonershark11 posted a "You Can't See Me" variation of the image (shown below, right).
On March 24th, @reganslatic[6] tweeted the None of You Are Free of Sin comic along with the message "me every time a random person tweets me 'hey' or 'I'm literally the guy in the pic'" (shown below).
