I'm Gonna Be Hungover refers to a viral video by the band HAIM where they sing about how they're going to be hungover while riding in a car, assumedly drunk or about to get drunk. The video was posted to HAIM's TikTok page in March 2022 and inspired other TikTokers to lip dub to it. Later that year, HAIM made a cameo appearance in Taylor Swift's music video for "Bejeweled" where they sing the song.

Origin

On March 28th, 2022, American rock band HAIM, consisting of Este, Danielle and Alana Haim, posted a video to TikTok[1] (@haimtheband) where they sing a song together while drunk or going to get drunk about how they're going to be hungover, garnering over 10.3 million views in seven months (shown below).

The original sound for "I'm gonna be hungover" inspired over 10,000 uses in seven months. The majority of the videos on TikTok[2][3] are lip dubs to the song by people who are drinking or about to start drinking (examples shown below, left and right). On March 28th, 2022, Indy 100[4] reported on the viral video. On April 20th, Vulture[5] published an article about it.

On May 9th, HAIM performed the song live during a concert at Bayfront Park Amphitheater. The video was uploaded to YouTube[6] the next day (shown below).

Appearance In Taylor Swift's "Bejeweled" Music Video

On October 25th, 2022, Taylor Swift released the music video for "Bejeweled" off her album Midnights on YouTube.[7] In the video, which references the story of Cinderella, the members of HAIM make an appearance as three abusive stepsisters who berate Taylor as she scrubs the floor. As they turn to leave the room, they start signing "I'm gonna be hungover." The video gained over 11.4 million views in a day (shown below).

That day, @haimtheband posted a video to TikTok[8] where they lip dub to their original sound while backstage at the music video shoot, garnering over 2.7 million views in a day (shown below, left). The cameo and reference to the song was widely praised online by fans of HAIM and Taylor Swift (example shown below, right).
