Illegals In My Yard is a parody of the song "Feliz Navidad" featuring offensive lyrics about undocumented immigrants. The song, officially titled "The Illegal Alien Christmas Song," was created by conservative talk radio hosts Matt Fox and AJ Rice in December 2009 and was shared on the website Human Events that month, inspiring backlash online for its racist lyrics, including lyrics like "They're getting free organ transplants this Christmas" and "They're gonna spread bubonic plague this Christmas." In April 2023, the song was popularized on TikTok.

Origin

On December 14th, 2009, The Wonk Room[1] and Talking Points Memo[2] reported that a song parody of "Feliz Navidad" called "The Illegal Alien Christmas Song," created by Matt Fox and AJ Rice, the hosts of the Talk Radio Network radio show The Fox and Rice Experience, was shared to the Human Events website. The song was also reported on by American Renaissance[3] on December 22nd. The reports make note that Matt Fox and AJ Rice have produced several right-wing parody songs before, including "Sasha Obama’s Big Mouth"[4] and "We’re Beginning to Look A Lot like Marxists,"[5] although it is unknown if these songs have been archived anywhere. They also note that the Talk Radio Network is a right-wing media host, producing shows for Laura Ingraham and Michael Savage.

The earliest known upload of the song was posted to YouTube[6] on December 23rd, 2009, garnering over 31,300 views in 14 years. On December 30th, YouTuber[7] Fernando Mora posted a higher quality version of the song set to visuals of Looney Tunes character Speedy Gonzales, garnering over 975,000 views in the same rough span of time (shown below).

The song started become popularized again throughout the 2020s on sites including YouTube and TikTok. For example, on November 13th, 2022, YouTuber[8] SirWillcat posted an animation set to the song, garnering over 62,000 views in six months (shown below).

On April 15th, 2023, TikToker[9] @andrekwj5ez shared the video of the song set to the Speedy Gonzales footage, garnering over 900,000 views in a month. Later that month, TikTokers began using the song in videos and slideshows. For example, on April 26th, 2023, TikToker[10] @.editing_.hub posted a slideshow to the song where a dying man asks the doctor to play it for him, garnering over 3.8 million views in two weeks. That same day, TikToker[11] @feeluncomfortableyet posted a video to the song that gained over 50,000 views in two weeks (shown below, left). On April 29th, TikToker[12] @ghost_of_sparta37 posted a video calling the song a banger, garnering over 150,000 views in the same rough span of time (shown below, right).

On May 6th, TikToker[13] @alexbellaqueo posted a skit about going to a cookout hosted by a white person using the song, garnering over 1.7 million views in two days (shown below).
