If You're Reading This It's Too Late Album Cover Parodies is a photoshop meme parodying the cover of Drake's 2015 mixtape. The images consist of text written in crude block handwriting with the letter "E" tilted at a 45 degree angle, a style created by the street artist Jim Joe, nicknamed "Drakefont". The parodies are mainly spread around Tumblr .^[1]

Origin

If You're Reading This It's Too Late is the fourth mixtape by Candian rapper Drake. Upon release, it received positive reviews from contemporary critics including Pitchfork^[2], Rolling Stone^[3], and The Telegraph^[4]. It also sold well, debuting #1 on the Billboard 200.

Despite the album being released on February 13th, 2015 with no prior announcement, developer Rik Lomas and artist Simon Whybray created and launched a meme generator called "If You're Typing This It's Too Late" the day of the release.

The meme generator was written about in several mainstream publications, including hip hop magazine Complex^[5] and general music web site The Fader^[6]. Two images from these posts were frequently reblogged on Tumblr, including one that read "If You're Looking For A Valentine's Date It's Too Late" and another that read "You Need To Act Your Age And Not Your Girl's Age". The latter is a lyric from the mixtape.

In addition, users on the fan forum Kanye To The^[7] began a thread of Photoshop parodies of different construction. These differed from the generator memes in that they usually consisted of the cover art transposed into a different locations, like the cardboard insert of a toilet paper roll.
