If They Set That Android Free It Will Be the End of All of Us refers to a scene from the Dragon Ball Z anime series in which the character Future Trunks screams out a warning that if Android 16 gets activated, it will be the end of the world. In October 2024, the video achieved virality as a reaction and video or GIF caption format in memes.

Origin

On April 8th, 1992, episode 134 "Goku's Assassin" of the Dragon Ball Z anime series premiered.^[1] On September 26th, 2000, an English dub of the episode premiered in the United States. In the episode, the character Future Trunks realizes that if the Red Ribbon Androids activate Android 16, the world will be done for. Future Trunks gets agitated, screaming out his warning (scene shown below).

On October 23rd, 2024, TikTok^[2] user @ox.waka posted a video caption meme about the Tesla Optimus Robot based on the clip. The video (shown below) received over 1.1 million views and 150,000 likes in two months.

In the following weeks, the clip gained popularity as a caption format on X / Twitter and has been used for lip-sync memes on TikTok. For example, on October 31st, 2024, TikTok^[3] user @timotaye posted a Five Nights at Freddy's meme that gained over 2 million views and 331,000 likes in two months (shown below).

On X / Twitter, the video was used for caption memes that jokingly warned about undesirable and frightening events that could potentially happen. For example, on November 19th, 2024, X^[4] user @Friezas_Brother made a post about Sony's interest in the acquisition of the media conglomerate Kadokawa that gained over 5,100 reposts and 41,000 likes in one month (shown below).
