About
I Wish You Could- STOP FUCKING CRYING BITCH refers to a Misheard Speech Bubble meme that combines a sped-up version of Lil Darkie's "i can see clearly" with Stop Fucking Crying Bitch, Wah Wah Wah and associates two images or characters to sing or say each lyric. The meme started on TikTok in 2022 and continued into 2023 following a CapCut template made for the trend.
Origin
On August 15th, 2022, multiple TikTokers[1][2][3] posted videos that followed the "I Wish You Could- STOP FUCKING CRYING BITCH" speech bubble format. The most viral iteration posted on August 15th was uploaded by TikToker[1] @_shoutoz, gaining roughly 25,200 plays and 6,900 likes in eight months (shown below). On August 16th, 2022, TikToker[4] @clawdeen_awoo uploaded an iteration and in their comment section, they gave credit to TikToker[5] @clawdeen_awoo for the meme. However, @clawdeen_awoo has no video on their profile, likely deleted after its upload.
Inherently, the meme's sound combines a sped-up version of the song "i can see clearly" by Lil Darkie[6] and the Stop Fucking Crying Bitch, Wah Wah Wah video was uploaded by YouTuber[7] ReverendBurn in 2012 (clip shown below).
Spread
Going into August 2022, the format gained spread via similar yet subtly different templates. For instance, on August 20th, 2022, TikToker[8] @justaiden_f1 uploaded an iteration that used a slightly different sped-up version of "i can see clearly" by Lil Darkie and referenced Formula 1 drivers, gaining roughly 48,100 plays and 7,400 likes in eight months (shown below).
Starting in November 2022, the format gained increased virality when a CapCut template (since deleted) was created by CapCut user Kyle Angel. The first TikToker[9] to use the template was @zero_mortals1 on November 14th, 2022, referencing characters from Dragon Ball and receiving roughly 14,000 plays and 1,800 likes in five months (shown below, left). On December 22nd, 2022, TikToker[10] @miaisahoe posted an iteration about the human heart vs. cigarettes, alcohol, weed and vaping, gaining roughly 347,700 plays and 81,200 likes in four months (shown below, right).
Going into early 2023, the videos gained more virality under a new TikTok[11] sound. The memes also spread elsewhere in 2023, such as to YouTube, [12] iFunny [13] and Instagram. [14]
