I Will Defy Biology and Get You Pregnant refers to an exploitable meme template and art trend on Twitter / X showing one character gripping the other by the shoulders and saying, "I will defy biology and get you pregnant" to the other character who's nervously saying "Ah." In the original drawing (posted by X user @tarraerae in February 2024) the characters are labeled "ME" and "favorite male character." The format is visually and thematically similar to Ship Dynamic memes. Going into March 2024, variations of the template surfaced that inserted different characters from pop culture and recaptioned the text to fit different scenarios. The template was predominantly used by fandoms for shipping.

Origin

On February 26th, 2024, X^[1] user @tarraerae posted a drawing showing two figures. One, labeled "ME," is gripping the other, labeled "favorite male character," by their shoulders and saying to them, "I will defy biology and get you pregnant." The "favorite male character" is shown nervously saying "Ah." @tarraerae captioned the drawing, "Me when," earning over 97,000 likes in 10 days (shown below).

Spread

Redraws and variations of the template started surfacing on February 29th, 2024, following a quote posted by X^[2] user @annqerr who shared an iteration featuring characters from Honkai: Star Rail, gaining over 2,000 likes in a week (shown below, left).

An hour later on February 29th, 2024, X^[3] user @MallowJpeg referenced One Piece character Trafalgar D. Water Law in an iteration, receiving over 1,400 likes in a week (shown below, right).

Going into March 2024, iterations of the format became increasingly viral. For instance, on March 3rd, 2024, X^[4] user @tojikunas posted a Jujutsu Kaisen version, receiving roughly 17,000 likes in four days (shown below, left). The tweet gained viral reposts on Instagram^[5] soon after.

On March 6th, 2024, X^[6] user @crycry84488 referenced the Wriolette shipping from the Genshin Impact fandom, gaining over 26,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).
