Origin

On January 28th, 2020, YouTube account FRESH Movie Trailers posted a scene from the Sonic the Hedgehog film in which Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey) says the line. The post received more than 15,000 views in less than one month (shown below).

Spread

Shortly after the clip was released, the image began being used as a reaction image. For example, iFunny [1] user HELL posted the two images of Robotnik saying the line in response to a headline that reads, "Hipster Gets Mad His Photo Was Used In Article About How All Hipsters Look Alike, Then Finds Out It Wasn't Him." In less than one month, the post received more than 74,000 reactions and 600 comments (shown below, left).

On January 28th, Redditor [2] DrGeezerLadyPleaser posted a variation in response to the headline "Woman gives birth to black child and blames her husband for drinking too much coffee." The post received more than 12,000 points (97% upvoted) in less than one month (shown below, center).

On February 16th, Redditor[3] zEaTeM__ shared a variation in which the image responds to the caption "his friend looks like a mannequin with the head on backward." The post received more than43,000 points (93% upvoted) and 185 comments in less than two weeks (shown below, right).
