I Think We All Know Where This Is Going, continued So Let's Just Skip To The End, refers to a scene from The Amazing World of Gumball where Gumball, as president of the world, nukes the planet after accidentally starting a robot revolution. The scene, as well as a captioned screenshot of it, became the subject of memes including image macros starting in 2018, often attached to images that imply something sexual is about to happen.
Origin
On August 31st, 2015, The Amazing World of Gumball season four episode 122 overall, titled "The Check," aired in North America.[1] During the episode, Gumball becomes the president of the world and replaces all food with pizza. He then gives everyone on earth a robot assistant to help them once they get fat from all the pizza. However, the plan backfires when the robots start a "robolution." Gumball, sitting at his presidential desk, says, "My fellow Americans, I think we all know where this is going, so let's just skip to the end," then hits a red button, nuking the world (shown below).
On September 10th, 2018, Redditor Rig5terj posted an image macro to /r/animemes[2] using the scene, made up of four panels, attached to a panel of Saki Yoshida from Metamorphosis, gaining over 100 upvotes in four years (shown below). This is the earliest known meme using the scene.
Spread
The meme spread over the following years, often reduced to a single panel with Gumball saying "I think we all know where this is going." On September 29th, 2018, Redditor Crazyman_54 posted a meme to /r/dankmemes[3] using the image, gaining over 14,900 upvotes in four years (shown below).
On January 15th, 2019, Instagram[4] page rawgaymemes posted a version of the meme, attaching it to a screenshot from an adult movie, gaining over 3,000 likes in three years (shown below, left). On July 18th, Redditor Cyrus_Universe posted an image macro to /r/teenagers[5] using the meme to react to an image of a girl posing with an octopus, referencing tentacle erotica, gaining over 11,000 upvotes in three years.
On December 3rd, Instagram[6] page proguidesmash posted a version of the meme redrawing Gumball as the Pokemon Incineroar, gaining over 10,000 likes in three years (shown below). On March 10th, 2020, Redditor Jyotiraditya949 posted a version of the meme to /r/dankmemes[7] that gained over 19,000 upvotes in two years.
On April 1st, 2021, Instagram[8] page triggered.senpai posted a version of the meme using a screenshot from the anime Full Dive, gaining over 28,000 likes in a year (shown below, left). On May 30th, Facebook[9] page Nerdy Anime posted a meme using the format referencing tentacle erotica, gaining over 22,000 reactions and 4,900 shares in a year (show below, right).
