About

I Think I Miss My Wife is a quote spoken by Omni-Man (Nolan Grayson) in Invincible volume 45 in reference to his ex-wife Debbie Grayson. The issue was released in 2007 and became the subject of memes as early as April 2024 in which the speech bubble from the panel where Omni-Man says the line is photoshopped to alter the context, often using the phrasal template "I think I X." The exploitable panel also became the subject of redraws, depicting a character from another media franchise saying the quote or a similar variation of it.

Origin

In August 2007, issue 45 of the Invincible comic series was published.[1][2] On the final page, Omni-Man is shown saying, "I think I miss my wife" (shown below).

The image was reposted online several times in the 2020s, including by X[3] user @SoldatoChar on April 24th, 2023, garnering over 4,600 likes in a year.

The earliest known meme to reference the panel was posted by Redditor u/ThePumpkinBilly on April 4th, 2024, to the subreddit /r/Invincible[4] in which he is shown saying the line as a Thraxan, an alien that resembles a praying mantis, approaches him from behind, garnering over 2,900 upvotes in a month (shown below).

Spread

Memes both referencing the panel and quote and editing it became increasingly popularized over the following weeks. On April 5th and 6th, 2024, X[5][6] users @Yotakuboi and @CaptoraArt posted redraws of the panel, the former depicting Godzilla saying the line and the latter depicting Darth Vader from Star Wars saying the line, garnering over 35,000 and 39,000 likes, respectively, in a month (shown below, left and right).

On April 12th, X[7] user @DatChaosGuy posted an edit of the original panel in which Omni-Man is shown saying, "I miss Kingdom Hearts," garnering over 4,000 likes in a month (shown below).

On May 8th, 2024, X[8] user @ShitpostRock posted a version of the meme that gained over 5,200 likes in two weeks (shown below, left). On May 22nd, X[9] user @johnny_tmanV2 posted a version of the meme that gained over 22,000 likes in under a day (shown below, right).
