About
The I Think I Like This Little Life TikTok trend is a social media trend in which users sing a portion of the song "Little Life" by CORDELIA that goes, "I think I like this little life," either without context to another person (often their partner) or purposefully loudly and poorly with emphasis on the "I," sometimes to startle them and film their reaction. It also refers to videos expressing general hatred for the song. The trend was popularized in December 2023 as a response to the virality of "Little Life" on TikTok, which became a prevalent song to set emotional and heartfelt slice-of-life videos under, typically using the lyrics to show how much you enjoy your life.
Origin
In December 2023, the song "Little Life" by CORDELIA became a notably popular audio on TikTok, inspiring over 317,000 uses under its original sound.[1] The song is largely used in wholesome, heartfelt videos showcasing things that make people love their lives (examples shown below).
Later that month, some TikTokers began to express their hatred or exhaustion of the song. For example, on December 22nd, 2023, TikToker[2] @erinkilfordd posted a video captioned "me whenever I hear this sound" in which she air-boxes, garnering over 1.3 million views in three weeks.
TikTokers then began posting videos in which they sing the song poorly, putting emphasis on the starting "I." One of the earliest known examples of this was posted by TikToker[3] @bethsteenn on December 26th, garnering over 6.3 million views in two weeks (shown below).
Spread
TikTokers continued to post videos making fun of the song and singing the lyrics in unconventional ways and settings, including videos in which TikTokers randomly sing the string of lyrics to their partner. On December 26th, 2023, TikToker[4] @erikaxpriscilla posted a skit about the song, garnering over 5.7 million views in two weeks (shown below, left). On January 3rd, 2024, TikToker[5] @alixearle posted a video singing the song to a man, garnering over 11 million views in six days (shown below, right).
Also on January 3rd, TikToker[6] @maddiegracejepson posted a video singing the lyrics poorly, garnering over 23 million views in the same span of time (shown below).
On January 5th, 2024, TikToker[7] @_thescottfamily posted a video in which she sings the song poorly and startles her partner, garnering over 7 million views in four days (shown below, left). On January 6th, TikToker[8] @baochii posted a video following the trend that gained 11 million views in three days (shown below, right).
