"I Saw You On TV Last Night" is an exploitable video series based on a scene form the Nickelodeon animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants. The quote is uttered by the character Old Man Jenkins, who tells SpongeBob that he saw him "on TV last night." However, when the episode cuts back to Jenkins watching television, it is revealed that he was watching a commercial for Bran Flakes, which comes in a yellow, rectangular box, and he had mistook the cereal box for SpongeBob. Online, people replace SpongeBob and the cereal with various objects for humorous effect.

Origin

On March 22nd, 2002, the episode of SpongeBob SquarePants entitled "As Seen On TV" aired in the United States. Old Man Jenkins sees SpongeBob and tells him that he saw him on TV last night. The episode then fades out of their meeting to show Old Man Jenkins, the night prior, watching a commercial for Bran Flakes (clip below).[1]

The earliest known exploitable of the moment was posted on December 29tg, 2010 by YouTuber ieysca. The post (shown below, left) received more than 12,00 views in seven years.

The following year, on May 31st, 2014 the earliest known remix variation of the video was published by YouTuber punkinnonstop. The post (shown below, right) received more than 3,300 views in six years.

On July 3rd, 2017, YouTuber Dolan Dark published a version in which a person wearing a poorly constructed SpongeBob costume appears on Jenkins's television. The post (shown below) recevied more than 110,000 views in one year.
