I Need Iron Blocks is a quote and catchphrase from Minecraft: Story Mode (MCSM) season 2 villain Romeo, also known as the Admin, that he mockingly says to the character Jesse in one scene. Romeo's full quote is, "I need iron blocks. I'm out of bricks. I don't want to be surrounded by lava!" A series of I Need Iron Blocks memes surfaced on TikTok and YouTube in late 2025, mostly manifesting in brainrot video edits that reedited the scene in absurd ways, using it as an exploitable video and audio element.

Origin

On December 19th, 2017, season 2, episode 5 of Minecraft: Story Mode titled "Above and Beyond" was released.[3] In one scene, the villain, Romeo, also known as the Admin, is talking to the protagonist, Jesse, about how it's hard pretending to be him or her. Mockingly, Romeo paraphrases the demands from other characters he heard while pretending to be Jesse, starting with "I need iron blocks. I'm out of bricks. I don't want to be surrounded by lava!"[1][2]



On September 29th, 2025, TikToker[4] @lumii427 shared a video that edited the scene by making the audio and video quality low and moldy when it switched to Romeo saying, "I need iron blocks." Over two months, the video received over 56,800 likes.

Spread

On November 3rd, 2025, TikToker[5] @nacho_average_guy shared a video that used the audio of the abovementioned clip, showing a Romeo "noli skin" from the Roblox game FORSAKEN. Over one week, the video received over 41,000 likes.

Also on November 3rd, TikToker[6] @thereal_bardock_ shared a video of themself putting Romeo's "I Need Iron Blocks" soundbite through several voice filters, gaining over 17,800 likes in a week.

On November 6th, 2025, YouTuber[7] azure reposted @lumii427's video, receiving over 104,000 views in four days.

Also on November 6th, YouTuber[8] @EpicEdits8 shared a video that used footage from FORSAKEN of a Romeo avatar flying around, paired with a Red Circle Perpetrator format that pointed with a red arrow to a variation of the SYBAU Picture meme, instead reading the acronym, "INIB," for "I Need Iron Blocks." Over four days, the video gained over 1.2 million views.
