About

I Just Lost My Dawg, also known as I Just Lost My Dog and continued And My Brother Taught Me How To Chase the Bag or And My Brother Showed Me How To Chase the Bag, refers to lyrics from the song "Ricch Forever" by Roddy Ricch and its poorly covered versions on TikTok from TikTokers TRINITY (@trinitystreet) and Don Blanco (@donblancoaventuras). TRINITY and Don Blanco posted their covers in mid-2024, which led to their audios becoming TikTok sounds for shitposts and photo slideshows. Many of the video memes referenced the Zawg / Schlawg meme. I Just Lost My Dawg and "Ricch Forever" were originally used in the Gojo Backshots meme. Overall, the satirical usage of the song likened it to meme rap. Roddy Ricch's other songs gained memes prior to "Ricch Forever," such as "Ballin,'" which gained notoriety because of the Animan Studios meme.

Origin

Roddy Ricch's "Ricch Forever" was released on September 27th, 2018.[1] An unofficial music video was posted to YouTube[2] on October 24th, 2018, amassing over 27.6 million views in six years (shown below). The song's opening hook is, "I just lost my dawg (yeah) / Nigga, my brother taught me how to chase the bag."

I just lost my dawg
Nigga, my brother taught me how to chase the bag
Get right in the field, I had to make a bag
The day he lost his soul, wish I could take it back
I just wanna go get one more bag with my nigga
Wanna be rich forever for my dawg
Supposed to take you on yo first trip on a private jet
I vow to always ball until I fall
