I Just Get So Nervy is a catchphrase and series of memes derived from audio and video clips taken from one of YouTuber nobrainjames's videos in which James, utilizing a parrot avatar, clips audio from players using the voice chat feature in Roblox and plays it back as a means of "parroting" them. The meme began spreading in late January to February 2026 after several clips pulled from the original video were uploaded to TikTok and subsequently went viral.

Origin

On January 20th, 2026, popular YouTuber^[1] nobrainjames uploaded a video titled "TROLLING as PARROTS on ROBLOX VOICE CHAT," where he trolls other players by recording their conversations and playing the audio back, much to their annoyance. The crux of the video's humor is the cringiness of the conversations and the bizarre cadence of the other players voices.

The term "I just get so nervy" came about after one player used the phrase, which was then repeated using another player's voice. The video received 1.3 million views within three weeks.

On January 22nd, 2026, TikTok^[2] user @m0wgrass, who had been involved in the original video, uploaded a clip of several parrots repeating the phrase, "I just get so nervy" ad nauseam, enraging the players being mocked. The video was viewed over 22.4 million times and received 1.6 million likes in just three weeks.

On January 23rd, 2026, another TikTok^[3] user, @graevayu, also part of the original flock of parrots, uploaded another clip in a similar vein, repeating the phrase while the audio becomes louder and louder. The video received 6.4 million views and 96,300 likes in less than three weeks.

As re-uploaded clips and edits proliferated on TikTok, users began using audio from the videos as a backdrop for moodboards and ironic ASMR videos.

TikTok^[4] user @randomahhranter uploaded one such video on February 7th, 2026, with audios from the original video playing over clips from slime videos and a static image of a parrot. The video received 6.3 million views and 1 million likes in six days.

As clips and audio from the original videos continued to spread rapidly on the platform, parrots in any context began to be associated with the audio. Users began posting videos of parrot toys, artwork and actual parrots with the caption "I'm so nervy."

On February 12th, TikTok^[5] user @le4h.xxx posted a video of her pet parrot, Daisy, with the audio. The video received 788,500 views and 177,900 likes in one day.
