I Hope You Find Some Peace of Mind in This Lifetime is the opening line to the song "United in Grief" by Kendrick Lamar. The line, and the following ones about Kendrick's grief and troubles, became widely used in meme edits on TikTok in 2023 involving fictional characters that are going through struggles and are hiding secrets from the rest of their franchise.

Origin

On May 13th, 2022, the Kendrick Lamar^[1] YouTube channel uploaded the official audio to the song, which comes from his Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers album. The intro immediately resonated with many of his fans, with several top comments on the video referring to the intro as needing its own song and being chill-inducing as the video gained over 17 million views in one year (shown below).

On August 1st, 2022, the TikTok account Ragerclub^[2] was one of the first to use the intro on TikTok, with a Hype Trailer video being uploaded using it as their background sound earning over 117,000 likes in one year (shown below).

On February 18th, 2023, TikToker momentsofgaming^[3] uploaded an edit of the game Ghost of Tsushima with the background song. The edit, showcasing the sad backstory and journey taken by the main character and his grief, uses the intro and extends into the first verse of the song, earning over 210,000 likes in seven months (shown below).

The song and edits utilizing it started to center around Miles Morales after the release of Across The Spider-Verse in mid-2023, with many TikTokers releasing their own versions of edits taken from both movies.

For example, on June 4th, 2023, TikToker desieditx_^[4] uploaded an edit out of clips from the first movie, focusing on and showcasing Miles' grief and down moments while earning over 300,000 likes in three months (shown below).
