"I Heard People Are Shipping Us!" "To Where?" is a copypasta meme in which the phrases "I heard people are shipping us!" and "To where?" are posted above two separate characters, each phrase representing the below character's dialogue. The meme, which derives its comedy from the second character mistaking romantic shipping with the physical act of shipping, was popularized on X / Twitter at the end of July 2024, becoming increasingly prevalent online throughout August of that year.

Origin

On July 26th, 2024, X[1] user @lumityfolder made a post referencing The Owl House, writing, "luz: I heard people are shipping us | amity: to WHERE," garnering over 350 likes in a week (shown below). This is the earliest known instance of the meme.

The meme started to spread on X over the following days. On July 28th, X[2] user @Monoshindaily posted the first version of the meme to directly attribute each line of dialogue with an image of a character, garnering over 10,000 likes in a week (shown below).

The meme continued to spread on X over the following days. On July 31st, 2024, X[3] user @TatasenkoMana posted a version of the meme that gained over 13,000 likes in five days (shown below, left). On August 3rd, X[4] user @msfujoshi23 posted a version referencing Spy X Family that gained over 93,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).

On August 4th, 2024, X[5] user @SlLENTPRINCESS posted a version of the meme referencing The Legend of Zelda series, garnering over 9,600 likes in a day (shown below).
