Origin

On December 5th, 2020, TikToker @mykynsie published a video of herself removing large sunglasses and revealing extra long eyelashes. The post received more than 5.5 million reactions and 305,000 comments in less than one month (shown below).

Spread

Following the post, people began making their own version of the video. For example, on December 6th, TikToker @sarahsharafff shared a version that received more than 4.2 million reactions and 116,000 comments in less than one month (shown below, left).

Over time, the features accentuated in the videos continued to grow to even more unwieldy proportions. Days later, TikToker @AmiraSymon shared a variation that received more than 6.7 million reactions and 126,000 comments in less than one month (shown below, right).

On December 18th, 2020, StayHipp^[1] published an article about the trend.

As of January 2021, the TikTok^[2] sound of the Tupac sound clip contains more than 180,000 videos.
