I Don't Know Challenge refers to a series of TikTok parody videos in which users act out indecisive scenarios to the song "Steppin'" by American rapper Supa Dupa Humble.[1]

Origin

On October 30th, 2017, Supa Dupa Humble released a music video for "Steppin'" on YouTube (shown below). The video gained 4.9 million views and 180,000 likes in a year.

The first example of the I Don't Know Challenge is unknown. On January 25th, 2019, Top Best TikTok uploaded the first I Don't Know Challenge TikTok Compilation (shown below). The video garnered 154,000 views and 2,100 likes in a month.

Spread

As of February, 22nd, 2019 the sound clip "Supa Dupa Humble – Steppin' (ft. Mills Supreme)" on TikTok has been used in 613,400 videos. On January 31st, the second compilation video was uploaded to YouTube by Really Got It (shown below, left). The video accumulated 12,000 views in a few weeks. On February 2nd, another was upload by Agnes Blair (shown below, right).

As of February 22nd, the most popular I Don't Know Challenge videos uploaded to TikTok where posted by @jasoncoffee with 1.1 million likes and 12,700 shares (shown below, left) and @westrockortho with 967,000 likes and 36,700 shares (shown below, right).
