I Am One in A Krillion is a catchphrase and viral video of a scene from Happy Feet 2 in which a krill denies that he looks the same as the other krill, saying, "There's only one of me in all the world. I am one in a krillion." The scene was uploaded to YouTube in 2012 and became the subject of memes in late March throughout April 2023 on sites like Twitter and TikTok.
Origin
On November 18th, 2011, Happy Feet 2 premiered in theaters. On March 18th, 2012, a scene from the movie was uploaded by YouTuber[1] vjgasia where a school of krill, all identical, are swimming in the ocean. One of the krill, Bill, asks if another krill is named Will, to which he answers "of course, can't you tell?" Bill says they all look the same and Will refutes this, saying, "Not me, Bill. There's only one of me in all the world. I am one in a krillion," "krillion" being a portmanteau of "krill" and "million." The video gained over 1.7 million views in 12 years (shown below).
On March 10th, 2023, TikToker[2] @txm.xiaoxiaokk posted the scene, garnering over 9 million views in a month. The scene inspired memes and reactions on the app over the following days. On March 12th, TikToker[3] @leotherapy reacted to the scene, calling it "so hard," garnering over 50,000 views in a month (shown below, left). On March 19th, TikToker[4] @thermalrat posted a video sending the scene numerous times over DM, garnering over 16,000 views in a month (shown below, right).
Spread
Memes referencing the clip became increasingly popularized over the following weeks on TikTok and Twitter. On March 21st, 2023, Twitter[5] user @cloovrd quote-retweeted the You Are Not Special meme with the clip, garnering over 22,000 likes in two weeks. On March 23rd, Twitter[6] user @SKULLKIDNG posted artwork of the krill, garnering over 31,000 likes in two weeks (shown below).
On March 31st, TikToker[7] @junebugedit posted an edit of the scene that garnered over 962,000 views in four days (shown below). On April 1st, Twitter[8] user @SylonTheTempest shared the scene, writing, "I'm trying my fucking hardest not to cry laughing at this video but holy shit," garnering over 11,000 likes in three days.
That day, iFunny[9] user throwaway_femboy posted a meme using the krill that garnered over 5,900 smiles in three days (shown below).
