I Ain't Never Seen Two Pretty Best Friends is a phrase spoken by jayrscottyy in a viral TikTok video from October of 2020. In the video, jayrscottyy sits in his car and claims that two best friends are never both pretty. The video became the subject of jokes in October of 2020 due to the look of jayrscottyy, the manner in which he says the phrase, and the message of the video in general.

Origin

On October 8th, 2020, jayrscottyy uploaded a video to TikTok[1] of himself sitting in his car talking to the camera, a typical setting for his videos. In the video, jayrscottyy says, "I ain't never seen two pretty best friends. It's always one of them gotta be ugly" (shown below). The video gained over 12.4 million views 1.7 million likes in under a month. Many commenters mocked the message in the video, as well as jayrscottyy's looks and demeanor, including the way he doesn't blink while delivering the message, and the golden appearance of his eyes.

As the video increased in popularity, TikTokers began mocking it in TikTok Duets and through the original sound for jayrscottyy's video. On October 20th, for example, TikToker bigmalalls[2] uploaded a Duet in which they've edited their face to look like jayrscottyy, garnering over 3.9 million views in 2 weeks (shown below, left). This became a popular way to mock the video. On October 23rd, TikToker dont.test.me.like.a.quiz[3] uploaded a zoomed and distorted edit of jayrscottyy's video garnering over 1 million views in 10 days (shown below, right). This video increased interest in the original, as TikTokers began using the sound from both to mock the original.

One related trend sees TikTokers film themself and a friend both lip-syncing to jayrscottyy's video, the joke being that each one thinks the other is the ugly one. On November 1st, yodelinghaley[4] uploaded an example of this trend, gaining over 1.5 million views in a day. On the same day, lilbittylivie[5] uploaded a video using the same joke, gaining over 347,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

On October 30th, 2020, eBaum's World[6] published an article detailing the trend. As of November 2nd, the original sound to jayrscottyy's video has been used in over 37,000 videos on TikTok.
