How Long Could You Survive Without X refers to a series of ironic WatchData timeline video parodies where images and descriptions are used over a survival timeline video by WatchData to portray how long someone could survive without a given subject. The meme became popular in 2022, with users editing the timeline to represent absurd, meme-related subjects.
Origin
The YouTube[1] channel WatchData has an ongoing series of videos where they present how long someone might survive in a given situation. The first of these was uploaded on July 15th, 2020 and gained over 7 million views in two years (shown below).
On February 26th, YouTube[2] user SubToMe posted a video parodying one of these videos, referencing the I Love Lean and Mr. Incredible Becoming Uncanny formats, gaining over 340,000 views in 3 months.
Spread
On March 9th, 2022, YouTuber[3] Schrick posted a parody video in the same style about how long you could survive without Mug Root Beer, gaining over 2 million views in three months (shown below, left). On March 22nd, a YouTuber[4] posted a version of the meme about how long you could survive without a liver, referencing the Mario Steals Your Liver meme, gaining over 1.5 million views in a similar span of time (shown below, right).
The trend saw an influx in popularity in May 2022. On May 26th, YouTuber[5] new account posted a version of the meme about surviving without Twitter, gaining over 567,000 views in six days (shown below). On June 1st, YouTuber[6] Lessons In Meme Culture posted a video about the meme, gaining over 175,000 views in under a day.
