About

How I Imagined X as A Kid vs. Actual X is a phrasal template used in a series of exploitable image macros comparing what someone thought a certain type of person, such as a "kidnapper" or a "drug dealer," looked like as a kid vs. what they actually tend to look like IRL. The memes often use imagery from SpongeBob SquarePants and began on iFunny in May 2019, gaining virality on the /r/BikiniBottomTwitter subreddit in December 2019 and becoming increasingly popularized on sites like Facebook, Reddit and Instagram over the following years.
