How Does It Look, Doc?, also known as Doc How Does It Look? or Doctor On Computer Giving MRI Scan, refers to an exploitable image macro meme showing a doctor or radiologist looking at a computer screen while another person is getting an MRI scan in the other room.

The man wearing red scrubs is shown lying down in an MRI machine, asking, "How does it look, doc?" or "Does it look bad, doc?" to which the doctor responds, "Lmao, hold on fam," or "hold on dude," while distracted by a video game, meme or piece of media on his computer screen. The original image stems from a stock photo originally uploaded to the internet in 2009, after which it came to be used in memes all through the 2010s and 2020s as users replaced the imagery on the doctor's screen.

Origin

The digital art stock image of a doctor looking at a computer screen to see the results of a person's MRI machine was originally uploaded to Shutterstock^[1] by James Steidl on January 5th, 2009, titled, "Technician Monitoring MRI Scan."

The earliest known meme made using the MRI scan image was a Demotivational Poster meme in Polish, posted to Demotywatory.pl^[2] on July 15th, 2010. The text loosely translates to, "Professionalism: When you can keep a straight face even in the most unpleasant situations."

According to TinEye,^[3] the site "LolHome" hosted an early variant of the meme showing the radiologist or doctor being distracted by something besides an MRI scan on his computer screen, showing him playing World of Warcraft.

On November 29th, 2016, the Facebook^[4] page Lego Star Wars II-core posted the earliest known version of the meme to contain text, showing the patient asking, "Does it look bad, Doc," and the doctor responding, "Lol, I dunno you're probs fine." The post gathered over 1,000 reactions in nine years.

On January 14th, 2021, Redditor^[5] /u/philly7453 posted a similar meme to the RuneScape subreddit /r/2007scape with the title, "Gimme a sec," gathering over 2,000 upvotes in four years.

On January 26th, 2025, the Instagram^[6] page @negusflex posted a version of the meme that shows a person wearing red scrubs lying down in an MRI machine, asking, "How does it look, doc?" to which the doctor responds, "Yeah, one-second bro" while looking at ChatGPT. The edit received over 594,000 likes in roughly a week.

On January 30th, 2025, CoolMathGames posted an Instagram^[7] slideshow of "How Does It Look Doc?" MRI Scan memes, gathering over 67,000 likes in four days.
