How Did Dora Die refers to a Don't Google trend on TikTok where users film reaction videos of themselves before and after googling "how did Dora die," referring to the protagonist from the children's TV show Dora the Explorer. Googling the term leads to the viral 2012 YouTube video "Dora No More," which depicts Dora dying in several different ways. The trend became popularized on TikTok in late May 2022.

Origin

On January 19th, 2012, YouTuber[1] TheStringiniBros posted a video titled "Dora No More." The video features original animations of Dora the Explorer dying in a variety of ways over an original song with lyrics about each death (shown below). It garnered over 8.7 million views in 10 years.

On May 28th, 2022, TikToker[2] @talialopes_ posted a video captioned, "record yourself before and after searching 'how did Dora die,'" where she lip dubs to a song then shows her shocked reaction to the video, gaining over 3.1 million views in three days (shown below).

Spread

Over the following days, TikTokers uploaded videos reacting to the search query. On March 28th, 2022, TikToker[3] @chxrsworldxo posted a video showing the results of their search, the "Lost of Deaths" Fandom[4] page on "Dora No More" saying Dora was "Eaten by a crocodile," gaining over 16,000 views in three days (shown below). On May 30th, HITC[5] and The Tab[6] published articles about the trend.
