About

Hit You With The Blick (TikTok Trend) refers to a dance trend on TikTok that uses a sound from TikToker K Comedy (@k.comedy_) in late 2021 in which he's freestyle rapping in his car. In August 2022, creators used the sound after a dancing grandma animation was used along with it. Creators would do the dance that resembled Dame Tu Cosita and wrote outsider statements in text overlay that they'd prove wrong by parading another person into the frame that represented their rebuttal or their "blick."

Origin

On November 14th, 2021, TikToker[1] k.comedy_ posted a video of him and his friend in the car freestyle rapping from which the original "Hit You With The Blick" song comes from. Over the course of nine months, the video received roughly 602,600 plays and 127,400 likes (shown below).

On December 11th, 2021, TikToker[2] esquann used the sound as the audio for an animated, dancing grandma video, earning roughly 75,800 plays and 14,800 likes in eight months (shown below, left). The dancing grandma animation was originally created by TikToker[3] nortorok on January 28th, 2020, intended to be for the song "AY AY AY" by Q Park and earning roughly 666,700 plays and 62,700 likes in two and a half years. Six days prior, Q Park posted the original animation as a TikTok[4] on January 22nd, 2020, earning roughly 10.8 million plays and 1.3 million likes in two and a half years (shown below, right).

Spread

On August 2nd, 2022, TikToker[5] mrshakeemdown reposted esquann's TikTok[2] as a more cropped version, earning roughly 12.1 million plays and 2.7 million likes in four weeks (shown below, left). On August 7th, 2022, TikToker[6] ctb.jumpout was the first to popularize the dance and song outside of the grandma in a video that received roughly 2.2 million plays and 417,800 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).

On August 10th, 2022, TikToker[7] ctb.jumpout posted a duet with the original freestyle video, earning roughly 144,500 plays and 21,400 likes in three weeks (shown below, left). On August 12th, 2022, TikToker[8] doobeysmith7 added to the trend, having his friend slide in behind him as he moved out of frame. The TikTok received roughly 3.8 million plays and 475,800 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).

Inspired by the addition of the second person in the dance, others latched onto the trend, recreating the dance with their friends. On August 15th, 2022, TikToker[9] sophiapippen33 posted a video with text overlay reading, "Them: "your not bringing ginormous dad right?" and then the secondary dancer that entered the video was her dad, former Chicago Bulls NBA player Scottie Pippen. Over the course of two weeks, the video received roughly 12.2 million plays and 1.6 million likes (shown below).

Inspired by sophiapippen33's use of the sound, many other TikTokers joined the trend of having a secondary dancer enter the frame, acting as a rebuttal to the outsider statement they presented.
