Herobrine In Minecraft Movie refers to a series of memes imagining the Minecraft creepypasta character Herobrine appearing in A Minecraft Movie. The memes were popularized in early September 2024 following the release of the film's first teaser trailer and frequently portray Jack Black as Steve from the "I am Steve" scene with glowing white eyes like Herobrine.

Origin

On September 4th, 2024, the first teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie was released online, including on YouTube^[1] and X,^[2] garnering over 14 million views on the former and 128,000 likes on the latter in a day. At the 00:40-second mark, Jack Black appears as Steve.

Soon after the trailer premiered, memes imagining the creepypasta character Herobrine's potential appearance in the film emerged on social media. The earliest notable example was posted on September 4th by X^[3] user @______dickhead, who shared a photoshop of Jack Black's Steve with glowing white eyes, writing, "I…….. am herobrine……," garnering over 23,000 likes in a day.

Memes imagining Herobrine in A Minecraft Movie continued to spread following the release of the teaser. Some memes imagined what Herobrine's reveal scene might be like, stylizing it in an intentionally corny way.

For example, on September 4th, 2024, X^[4] user @Flaguieug posted a similar white-eye photoshop of Jack Black's Steve, writing, "'That's my evil twin brother…. Herobrine,'" garnering over 85,000 likes in a day.

Later that day, X^[5] user @DiamondBrickZ made a post imagining a scenario where Jason Momoa's character, who the poster names Bryan, reveals himself to be Herobrine, garnering over 113,000 likes in a day. That same day, X^[6] user @GunnarGuyALT then posted a voiceover of the meme that gained over 5,000 likes in the same span of time.

Also on September 4th, 2024, TikToker^[7] @bootyfart223_ posted a video in which they show scenes from the A Minecraft Movie teaser, followed by scenes from a Herobrine-based animation, writing that they wish the movie resembled the Herobrine animation, garnering over 100,000 views in a day.
