Hello, This Is Daenerys refers to a series of image macros that feature behind the scenes photographs Game of Thrones actors Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington in costume on their cellphones. Online, people have captioned the picture with hypothetical phone calls between their two series characters Daenerys Targaren and Jon Snow, respectively, generally focusing on Daenerys and Snow meeting.
Origin
On July 23rd, 2017, HBO[1] aired the second episode of the seventh season of the hit series Game of Thrones entitled "Stormborn." Toward the end of the episode, the characters Daenerys and Jon are set up to meet, igniting fan excitement.
That night, Twitter [2] user @dasassenach posted two behind the scenes[3] of Clarke and Harington talk on their phones on the set of season seven. They captioned the post "'E aí, já saiu de casa?' 'Calma tia, já to chegando' #GOTS7 #GameOfThrones" (translation: "'Have you left the house?' 'Relax. I'm on my way'). The post (shown below) received more than 270 retweets and 440 likes as of August 4th.

Minutes later, another Twitter[4] user @FilipeTois posted a variation with the caption "com quem eu falo? com quem eu falo? jon querido é a daenerys, a daenerys mulher, a rainha" (translation: "'Who am I speaking to?’ ‘Jon darling it’s Daenerys the woman Daenerys, the Queen’”). The post (shown below, left) received more than 5,300 retweets and 6,300 likes.
The following day, Twitter user @bttlborn posted two behind the scenes[2] of Clarke and Harington talk on their phones on the set of season seven. He captioned the post, "alo jonas? aqui eh a daenerys…daenerys menina a mãe dos dragão" (translation: “-Hello Jonas? This is Daenerys … Daenerys, the girl that is mother of Dragons”). The post (shown below) received more than 270 retweets and 440 likes as of August 4th.
That day, Twitter[5] user @fillcarvalho posted another variation with similar joke. It was captioned "- alô aqui é daenerys nascida da tormenta e quero q vc se junte ao meu exército pra gente dá uma peia nos lannisters – dá o que? – nerys." The post (shown below) received more than 30,000 retweets and 39,000 likes.
After the next episode airs the following week on July 30th, the meme changed to feature specifics about the characters' meeting in which Daenerys demands Snow "Bend the knee" and pledge allegiance under her leadership. On July 30th, Twitter[6] user @Daenerys posted the image with the caption "Jon: 'Hello?' Me: 'Bend the knee!' Jon: Hangs up" The post (shown below, left) received more than 7,400 retweets and 16,000 likes in less than a week.
On August 1st, Twitter[7] user @hitsvash uses the picture to create a prank phone call between the characters. He captions the post "'Hello, who's this?' 'BEN' 'Ben who?' 'Ben D. Knee' hangs up" The tweet (shown below, center) started a trend featuring "Ben D. Knee." On August 3rd, Twitter[8] user @SerLlorah posted a similar joke with the caption "-Hello, who´s this? -Ben -Ben who? -Ben D. Knee. The post (shown below, right) received more than 6,200 retweets and 9,900 likes in less than 24 hours.
That day, Redditor SigilliumDiaboli posted this variation appeared on the subreddit[9] /r/MemeEconomy. The post received more than 4,000 points (93% upvoted) and 40 comments.
