Hello Neighbor Subscribe Button is an exploitable and green screen meme format based on an animation of Hello, Neighbor antagonist Theodore Peterson rising up from the bottom of the screen and telling viewers to like the video and subscribe to the tinyBuildGAMES YouTube channel by pointing to a printout of the like and subscribe buttons. The animation comes from a 2023 tinyBuildGAMES video titled "Secret Neighbor – Halloween Update is OUT!" A green screen of the animation became the subject of memes on TikTok and other video platforms in late July 2025. As a meme, the animation is often placed sporadically and unexpectedly into unrelated videos or recreated, replacing Peterson with another character.

Origin

On October 26th, 2023, the tinyBuildGAMES YouTube^[1] channel posted a video titled "Secret Neighbor – Halloween Update is OUT!" garnering over 150,000 views in about two years. At the 0:08 timestamp, Theodore Peterson rises from the bottom of the screen with a sign telling viewers to like the video and subscribe to the channel.

On July 23rd, 2025, YouTuber^[2] BR3XALITY uploaded a green screen edit of the Theodore Peterson animation, garnering over 25,000 views in six days. This is the earliest known green screen of the animation.

That same day, several hours later, TikToker^[3] @stickmandude1234 posted a similar green screen edit, garnering over 600,000 views in six days.

The green screen template spread over the following days, also inspiring edits that replace Peterson with someone else.

For example, on July 25th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @zavrontato posted a video in which Peterson appears on the screen multiple times during an unrelated video, garnering over 610,000 views in four days.

On July 27th, TikToker^[5] @shake_zula2763 posted an edit of the green screen that replaces Peterson with Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, garnering over 200,000 views in two days.
