Hello, I'm Simon, He's Alvin and I'm Theodore is a TikTok audio sourced from a scene in the 2007 Alvin and the Chipmunks live-action movie in which the Chipmunks introduce themselves to Dave, with Simon saying, "Hello, I'm Simon, the smart one, he's Alvin," Alvin saying, "The awesomest one," and then Theodore saying, "and I'm Theodore." The audio clip was uploaded to the app in September 2021 and became increasingly popularized as a source of lip dub videos. In early 2024, a trend in which people or characters are assigned to either Simon, Alvin or Theodore went viral.

Origin

In one scene from the 2007 movie Alvin and the Chipmunks, the chipmunks introduce themselves to Dave, with Simon introducing himself as the smart one, Alvin introducing himself as "the awsesomest" and Theodore simply saying his name. On September 25th, 2021, TikToker^[1] @_peetasgirl posted an edit of the scene set to "The Adults Are Talking" by The Strokes in which the intro plays followed by other clips from the film, garnering over 561,000 views in three years (shown below).

The video's original sound was used over 30,000 times over the next three years. Some of the most popular videos are lip dubs in which girls cosplaying as each chipmunk lip dub to their character's dialogue while showcasing their outfit.

For example, on October 28th, 2022, TikToker^[2] @chloehippert posted a video like this that gained over 4 million views in just over a year (shown below, left). On October 31st, TikToker^[3] @cygonkaaa posted a video that gained over 2 million views in the same span of time (shown below, right).

In February 2024, the sound saw a second wave of virality in both lip dub videos and a trend where each chipmunk is assigned to a person or character. On February 13th, 2024, TikToker^[4] @cyjusiu posted a cosplay video to the sound that gained over 4.1 million views in 10 days (shown below).

Some TikTokers began using a CapCut template^[5] for the character / person labeling trend, in which each chipmunk is displayed next to an image of the person they're representing.

On February 21st, 2024, TikToker^[6] @soccer_player_number_25 posted a version of the trend that gained over 1.5 million views in two days (shown below, left). On February 22nd, TikToker^[7] @jimx_kids..editz posted a meme assigning Stephen Hawking, Jeffrey Epstein and Jimmy Saville to each chipmunk, garnering over 150,000 views in a day (shown below, right).
