Healing Band Aid is a series of object labeling image macros featuring a stock photograph of a woman covering a wound with an adhesive bandage. Online, people labeled the bandage various cures for incurable or ill-defined conditions, which are represented by the wound.

Origin

On January 15th, 2014, photographer Tom Baker took a picture of a woman covering a cut with a bandage. The image (shown below) was later uploaded to 123rf, a stock photography website.[1]

Spread

On October 15th, 2017, Facebook [2] Bobby T Luck uploaded the image with the bandaid labeled "Queerness" and the wound labeled "White Guilt." The image (shown below, left) received more than 145 reactions within two days.[2]

Several days later, the Facebook[3] account Garlic Bread Memes published a version in which the wound is labeled "Life spiraling out of control" and the band aid is labeled "Garlic Bread." The post (shown below, center) received more than 5,900 reactions, 2,400 comments and 1,500 shares in six months.

On April 15th, Twitter [4] @pjmjjkie posted a version in which the wound reads "all my life problems" and the band aid reads "BTS". The post (shown below, right) received more than 18,000 retweets and 23,000 likes in eight days.

Nine days later, on April 24th, The Daily Dot [5] published an article about the meme.
