About

Hawk Tuah Recently Went Viral for Her Rant refers to a series of parody memes that spread fake rants from internet personality Haliey Welch, better known as the Hawk Tuah Girl, which appear to stem from her podcast Talk Tuah that was garnering attention around the same timeframe. Started by a viral X / Twitter post in late September 2024, the format is similar to "X Reveals" memes, such as Jenna Ortega Reveals and Sydney Sweeney Reveals, and has been used to represent Welch as an expert on a variety of topics, or to express controversial opinions.

Origin

On September 20th, 2024, X[1] user @PatrickJBlum posted an image of internet personality Haliey Welch together with an infographic about U.S. Defense Industrial Base, writing, "🚨Hawk Tuah recently went viral for her rant on defense policy🚨," followed by a rant about the United States defense policy. The fake rant (shown below) received over 1,400 reposts and 24,000 likes in two days.

Spread

Following the post, a format that provided fake quotes of Hawk Tuah Girl speaking on various issues achieved virality on X / Twitter.

For example, on September 21st, 2024, the X[2] account @nocontextfm1 posted a rant about the video game Football Manager, which received over 710 reposts and 18,000 likes in one day (shown below).

Later on September 21st, X[3] user @The_Pequod_ posted a similar meme imagining Hawk Tuah Girl going on a rant about the novel Blood Meridian and its character Judge Holden that gained over 2,300 reposts and 23,000 likes in one day (shown below).

Numerous examples of the parody meme were also posted to Reddit in late September 2024, including the subreddits /r/BrandNewSentence,[4] /r/oblivion[5] and /r/NonCredibleDiplomacy,[6] each of which accumulated thousands of upvotes in roughly 24 hours.
