Happiness Noise refers to a blurred image of a sneezing husky paired with the caption. Originating from a viral video, the image has been circulated online as a reaction and a "Descriptive Noise" image macro for the purposes of expressing joy.

Origin

On August 6th, 2015, Vine[1] user joyeahern uploaded a video of a husky repeatedly sneezing. The video gained over 1 million loops in four years, with the YouTube[2] upload of the video gaining additional 227,000 views in the same period.



On October 27th, Reddit account of Brainstain entertainment news site posted the earliest known instance of the image macro based on the video to /r/memes subreddit.[3] The post gained over 330 upvotes in four months. On the following day, the image was reposted on MemeCenter,[4] with Brainstain also sharing the meme on its social media accounts on November 6th.[5][6]

In early November, several popular memes utilizing the macro were posted to /r/memes subreddit. On November 5th, Redditor[7] Mr_Crispalicious made a post that gained over 4,800 upvotes in four months. Another post,[8] made by the same user on November 7th, gained 4,600 upvotes in the same period.



On January 20th, Redditor[9] Despawheezo used the image in another popular post on /r/dankmemes subreddit, prompting a surge in the popularity of the macro.
