About

Hamburger Helper Anatomy refers to a series of depictions of the bone structure of the mascot for Hamburger Helper, an anthropomorphic glove named Lefty.

Origin

On October 14th, 2017, Twitter user @soongrowtired[1] posted two edits of the Hamburger Helper mascot with different skeletons inside, asking "someone who is good at science please help which is the correct anatomy of hamburger helper." The tweet gained over 50,000 retweets and 127,000 likes.

Spread

In the replies to the original post, other people posted their own imaginings of the bone structure of Lefty. For example, @joelcarroll[2] posted a drawn imagining of Lefty's skeleton and gained over 200 retweets and 1,500 likes (shown below, left). Another edit posted by @sindershift[3] gained over 275 retweets and 1,200 likes (shown below, right).

On October 16th, the Twitter account for Hamburger Helper[4] posted their own edit, gaining over 13,000 retweets and 41,000 likes (shown below, left). When it was pointed out that the skeleton provided by Hamburger Helper did not address the location of the mascot's eyes, Twitter user @darth[5] posted an edit which added grotesque eyes to Hamburger Helper's edit (shown below, right).

The edits were covered by Daily Dot,[6] Buzzfeed,[7] Today,[8] and more.
