Gym Kardashian refers to a series photoshopped images of Kim Kardashian, edited to make her appear extremely muscular. The images were typically paired with captions by various Twitter users after they first appeared on the social networking site in mid-February 2018.

Origin

On February 12th, 2018, Twitter user @jaypaulgeorge^[1] posted an image of celebrity socialite Kim Kardashian photoshopped to look extremely muscular (shown below, left). This tweet gained 50 retweets and 220 likes. His follow-up tweet,^[2] which included two more photoshops, went viral, gaining over 73,000 retweets and 264,000 likes (shown below, right).

In the following days, Twitter users applied their own captions to the photoshops. For example, Twitter user @Blerontinaaaa^[3] uploaded one of the images with the caption "when he calls you bro," gaining over 82,000 retweets and 212,000 likes (shown below, left). User @shadesof666^[4] posted a joke with one of the images that gained over 81,000 retweets and 204,000 likes (shown below, right).

The popularity of the photoshops led to media coverage from sites including Cosmopolitan,^[5] Metro,^[6] and W.^[7] Cosmo included in their article edits of other members of the Kardashian-Jenner family that made them look buff (examples shown below).
