Guy Slamming Credit Card refers to a video of a man reacting after he sees an interesting item that he really wants, then slams his credit card onto the table. It has similar usage to "Shut up and take my money!" and was popularized in the spring of 2021.

Origin

On March 30th, 2021, TikTok^[1] user @trevorjohnstoo uploaded a duet video of himself looking at an item that looks like a portable brush for a dog. Then, he takes out his credit card and slams it down. The video received more than 9.1 million views in one year (shown below).

Spread

Starting in April 2021, many TikTok users began using @trevorjohnstoo's cropped video as a reaction meme. For example, on April 5th, 2021, TikTok^[2] user @nflpro_nyg uploaded an edit that received more than 127,000 views in one year (shown below, left). On June 3rd, 2021, TikTok^[3] user @_futbolwrld2 uploaded a cropped version of the video that received more than 258,000 views in seven months (shown below, right).

On April 26th, 2022, YouTube^[4] user Kokone Akita uploaded a reanimated version of the video using the character Childe from Genshin Impact. The video received more than 110,000 views in nine months (shown below, left). On May 13th, 2021, YouTube^[5] user NumKatz uploaded a video about their reaction to hearing the character Eula sneezing. The video received more than 139,000 views in eight months (shown below, right).
