Guy Falls Into the Void refers to a viral TikTok video by parkour athlete Bob Reese in which he is woken up by another person, rolls over and falls down into a black void, disappearing completely. In mid-August 2021, the video gained popularity as an exploitable source material for humorous edits.

Origin

On August 11th, 2021, TikToker^[1] and parkour athlete Bob Reese (bob.reese) posted the original video to his TikTok channel (shown below). The video received over 23.6 million views and over 5.5 million likes in one week. On August 14th, 2021, Reese posted a follow-up TikTok^[2] explaining how the video was filmed (shown below, right). The post accumulated over 15.8 million views and 3.7 million likes in four days.

Bob, there you are. Dude, they are looking for you everywhere, dude, it's 2 in the morning!

On August 11th, 2021, Twitter^[3] user @parunephantom reposted the video to the platform, where it gained over 1.9 million views, 37,700 retweets and 181,400 likes in one week.

On the same day, @parunephantom tweeted^[4]^[5] the two earliest edits of the video, setting it to "Once Upon a Time" from Undertale (shown below) and "Skyloft" from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The edits received over 313,000 views and 187,400 views in seven days, respectively.

On August 12th, content creator DitzyFlama tweeted^[6] the first video edit of the TikTok, a Portal meme that gained over 31,200 views, 900 retweets and 4,600 likes in six days (shown below).

Later on the same day, DitzyFlama tweeted^[7]^[8] a Fortnite edit of the video and a green screen template based on it.

In the following days, more edits of the video were posted by users on Twitter and other social media. For example, on August 15th, content creator CoreyLaddo tweeted^[9] a Half-Life Source Filmmaker edit that gained over 98,200 views, 2,800 retweets and 15,000 likes in three days.
