"Guilty Pleasure" is a song by pop artist JoJo Siwa and the title track off her 2024 EP. The song was released in mid-July 2024 to mixed reviews, with many noting it as an improvement over her previous and much-criticized track "Karma." The song inspired several memes and trends on social media, including memes about the dance choreography that accompanies the song and the "making slime with JoJo Siwa" trend in which users edit videos of Siwa doing the dance to make it look like she is making slime or baking a dessert. She also became the subject of rumors that a tampon fell out of Siwa during the music video for the song.

Origin

On July 12th, 2024, JoJo Siwa released her EP Guilty Pleasure, which features the song of the same name, "Guilty Pleasure." Prior to the song's release, Siwa promoted the song on her TikTok account, @itsjojosiwa, in several videos in which she showcased a new dance choreo for the track (examples shown below).

On the day of the EP's release, she also released a music video for the song on YouTube,^[1] garnering over 2.3 million views in a week (shown below).

Dance Choreo Memes

The dance choreography became the subject of memes on TikTok, similar to how the dance choreography from "Karma" inspired memes. For example, on July 12th, 2024, TikToker^[2] @volarevia15 posted a video comparing the dance to the dance performed in Phineas and Ferb to the song S.I.M.P., garnering over 500,000 views in a week (shown below).

JoJo Siwa Makes Slime Trend

On July 12th, 2024, TikToker^[3] @j.sxedits posted a video captioned "Make slime with JoJo Siwa" in which a table with slime-making materials has been edited over a video of Siwa doing the dance, with the materials moving along with her dance to make it appear as if she's making slime, garnering over 4 million views in a week (shown below, left).

Several other examples of similar memes appeared on the app over the following days, with the same TikToker^[4] posting an edit in which Siwa makes pancakes on July 17th, garnering over 340,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

Tampon Falls Out During Music Video Speculation

On July 15th, 2024, TikToker^[5] @townie_inatownuwu posted a clip from the "Guilty Pleasure" music video in which something white appears to fall off Siwa while she's dancing, garnering over 600,000 views in three days (shown below, left). The video suggests that it is a tampon. On July 17th, TikToker^[6] @jade._.swanepoe posted a video asking for an explanation from Siwa, garnering over 100,000 views in a day (shown below, right).

That same day, X^[7] user @DramaAlert shared the clip, garnering over 5,000 likes in a day. On July 18th, BoredPanda^[8] reported on the rumor.
