Growling Chihuahua Woman is a viral TikTok video featuring a growling white chihuahua next to a man’s face. The video became a popular subject of TikTok Duets in summer 2020 after one version in which a woman performs the part of the dog inspired a series of duets and memes.

Origin

On June 24th, 2020, TikToker @mreviatar posted the video on the platform. They captioned it, "She loves me so much." The post received more than 3.3 million reactions and 34,000 comments in less than six months (shown below).

Spread

The following month, on July 24th, 2020, TikToker @rosie788 posted a lip-sync video of herself acting as the dog. The post received more than 516,000 reactions and 56,000 comments (shown below, left).

The @rosie788 inspired a number of memes, duets and impersonations. On July 30th, TikTok @jangleluvsu posted a duet of a nurse trying to put a mask on the woman. The post received more than 480,000 reactions and 9,800 comments in less than two months (shown below, center).

On August 21st, TikToker @alvincuya posted a variation that superimposed a dog house atop the woman. The post received more than 53,000 reactions and 425comments in less than one month (shown below, right). As of Septemeber 2020, the original sound used in the video has been featured in more than 76,000 videos.
