Grilled Cheese Obama Sandwich is a parody of XXXTENTACION's song "Changes" featuring lyrics about a grilled cheese Obama sandwich. The song was posted to YouTube in October 2022 and inspired animations and reactions over the following months. It also went viral on TikTok through reposts. The videos typically use a photoshopped image of Barrack Obama's face overlaid on a grilled cheese sandwich.

Origin

On April 2nd, 2022, YouTuber^[1] Typo Joe MMXXIII posted a video titled "Grilled Cheese Obama Sandwich" that begins with the opening of XXXTENTACION's song "Changes" then cuts from the singer's voice to the YouTuber's voice singing, "grilled cheese Obama sandwich," garnering over 153,000 views in nine months (shown below, left). On October 25th, the same YouTuber^[2] posted a full parody cover of "Changes" also titled "Grilled Cheese Obama Sandwich: The Full Version" (shown below, right). The song plays over a photoshop of Barack Obama's face on a grilled cheese sandwich. The video gained over a million views in three months.

On December 14th, 2022, YouTuber^[3] Hydraulic Beanbag posted an animation where the Obama sandwich sings the song into a microphone, garnering over 90,000 views in a month (shown below).

On December 22nd, TikToker^[4] @maxxyinnit posted a clip of the song under the caption, "what my friends send me at 3am," garnering over 1.5 million views in just over two weeks. The original sound was used over 1,900 times in the same span of time. On December 30th, TikToker^[5] @wylienewman69 posted a video showing people spamming the lyrics of the song in their comments, garnering over 191,000 views in just over a week (shown below, left). On January 6th, 2023, TikToker^[6] @familyguyclevelandshow5 posted a Family Guy clip of someone talking over the song, as if singing it, garnering over 1.2 million views in three days (shown below, right).
