The Great Walsh Bustus Resort, also spelled Great Walsh Bustos Resort, is a fake spa, resort and hotel first imagined within a January 2022 TikTok video that went viral. Memes about the hoax and resort were perpetrated by TikTokers in early 2022 who wanted to generate hype about a place that doesn't actually exist.

Origin

On January 26th, 2022, TikToker^[1] drfrankenshe posted a video in which she bothers her male friend laying in her bed, telling him that her dad just called her and told her about her birthday gift: two tickets to the Great Walsh Bustus Resort. Her friend then acts excited as if he knows exactly what she's talking about, when in reality, she's talking nonsense. The video (shown below) received roughly 1.5 million plays and 258,000 likes over the course of one week.

On January 30th, 2022, TikToker^[2] clittershy added to the trend, posting a video that received roughly 1,900 plays in six days, explaining who Walsh Butus was (shown below).

On February 1st, TikToker^[3] drfrankenshe posted a follow-up to their original, earning roughly 7,800 likes in four days (shown below, left). The next day, the TikTok^[4] page greatwalshbustusresorts, named after the fake resort, posted a video that acted as a short, stylized commercial, earning roughly 15,600 plays and over 800 likes in three days (shown below, right).

The Great Walsh Bustus Resort was also referenced on Twitter going into February 2022. For instance, on January 31st, Twitter^[5] user erbyfurby tweeted, "when the girls pull up to the great walsh bustus resort, it’s over," earning over 20 likes in five days (shown below).
